The biggest wedding cake!

The wedding cake picture is real. It is the biggest vanilla wedding cake, or any flavor of wedding cake, in the world since 2004. It has 7 tiers rising to 17 feet. It took 10,000 pounds of pound cake batter and 4,810 pounds of creamy frosting to make and can feed 59,000 guests.
So how much [...]

The bottom layer takes the ruffles from a wedding dress skirt (each ruffle Chef Mendy meticulously made herself), the second level is ribbons from a [...]

How to assemble a wedding cake YouTube video.

Here’s a YouTube video on wedding cake decorating. Watch carefully the part where a layer was put on top of another. The decorator piped frosting/icing in the shape of a heart. Nobody at the reception will notice this but it’s nice to know the layers were glued together with love.

How to cut a wedding cake.

Cutting a wedding cake can be daunting but with a little research ahead, including a talk with the baker to determine the shape, size, consistency, and firmness, this task should be a piece of … cake.

Note: The featured groom’s cake was made by Chef Mendy of CakesbythePound.com.

Arte Y Pico

Now, we’re supposed to name 5 other blogs that we feel has made a difference in design and content but we don’t want to impose the link-back so it’s not necessary to do so. We just want to name 5 other blogs in our EntreCard inbox that we feel deserve this award too:

1. Treasure Nature – Blogging for nature.

2. Bloggista.net – Sibling to Bloggista.com and offering a free service that combines the best features of Blogger and Wordpress.com.

3. Musuan – Nothing much to show for design but trying to make a difference for agricultural education.

4. Margie and Edna – You have to read this blog even just once to see why we’re happy to see their card on our inbox almost daily.

5. The World of Silly Willy and Fluffy – 2 clowns doing what they do best, trying to make the web a happier place.

And now for the rules (which we can choose not to follow :D ):

  1. Pick five (5) blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
  2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
  3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
  4. Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

Wedding cake baker in the U.K.: Little Bake House

Wedding cake baker/artist: Sarah

Service area: U.K..

Website: www.littlebakehouse.co.uk

E-mail: sarah [at] littlebakehouse [dot] co [dot] uk

Sarah of the LittleBakeHouse has kindly granted us permission to use her photos. She describes herself in her Flickr profile as a bit tomboyish and infatuated with baking and gingham. She says she’s fascinated with the amazing things that can be created with a few basic ingredients and we agree, as she does have a few fabulous wedding cakes to show off.

Take a look at her basic ingredients…

That’s a Jack Daniel’s, a French brandy, and a locally famous apple cider. We know somebody who would fret at the thought of such fine liquors used to “feed” cakes rather than wet his whistle. :D

Square 4-layer wedding cake in cream and chocolate fondant.

Chef Mendy created this 4-layer chocolate and cream cake with delicate lacy borders. It’s topped and accented by white Calla Lillies. The flower represents majestic beauty and is a symbol of purity. Cakes with this motif are said to be just right for spring or Easter weddings but who cares? Beautiful wedding cakes are perfect the whole year round.
